The Ernst-Mach-Institute studies high-speed processes in experiment and simulation. We consider them from a physical and engineering perspective and develop solutions for industrial applications. Our center of interest is on security, resilience, reliability, efficiency and sustainability of structures, components and systems under dynamic and extraordinary loads. We analyze phenomena of crash, impact and shock-waves in materials, microstructures as well as in complex systems. Our applications range from components and design of structures to whole vehicles and defense technology systems, from buildings and infrastructures, urban systems and networks to satellite systems.

The University of Vigo, founded in 1990, is a public University located in Galicia (NW Spain). It has three campuses, the main one located in Vigo, and two more in Pontevedra (30 km from Vigo) and Ourense (95 km from Vigo).
Our activities are funded by the Spanish and Galician governments (structural and competitive funding) as well as through financing obtained from R&D&I activities (private contracts, collaborations with industry, patents, consultancy, etc.).
Currently, the University of Vigo has nearly 22,000 students and about 200 research groups, whose activity has resulted in significant scientific output in the form of doctoral theses, publications, conference papers and registered patents.
Over the last 3 years, more than 1,000 projects confirm the Universitiy’s successful cooperation with companies and economic associations. Similarly, more than 25 national and European patent applications have been filed by the University of Vigo in recent years. Moreover, the university participates every year in the Framework Programme and other EU initiatives; more than 90 European Projects have been developed over the last 10 years (some of them coordinated by the University of Vigo), with a return of more than 35 million euros (including more than 60 H2020 projects).

MARLO AS

Since 2006, Marlo has provided consulting and technology solutions to the transport and logistics sector.
The company has operations in Norway and Portugal. Much experience has been gained through extensive participation in EU-funded research and development projects. The scope of these projects covers ports and maritime transport, logistics and intermodal transport.
In addition to using the results of such projects to establish commercial products and operations, Marlo has established an extensive network of partners throughout Europe and beyond.
Visible results of such projects are:
- The maritime transport solution (RoRo) used by Stora Enso to move products from the Nordic countries through Gothenburg to Zeebrügge is based on concepts developed in an EU project led by Marlo staff.
- The company MIXMOVE was founded by Marlo in 2017, based on products developed in the EU project iCargo and used by organisations like 3M, DHL, DG Schenker, Gebrüder Weiss and others.
- The new logistics single window used by all Portuguese ports was developed in the project JUL, where Marlo was one of the technology providers.

Politecnico di Milano (PoliMI) is one the most outstanding technical universities in Europe, and the largest Italian university in Engineering, Architecture and Design, with over 47,500 students.

UNIVERSIDADE DO MINHO The University of Minho (UMINHO) aims to be a university without borders, focusing on communities’ regional, national, and international socioeconomic and technological development. UMinho is a research University engaged in the valorization of the chain Knowledge-Research, D&I, as evidenced by a series of indicators. The ratio between Ph.D. students and academic staff is over 1; the fraction of postgraduate students in the total student population is over 20%; the balance between research projects and PhDs is over 0.5; around 150 PhDs are awarded every year; the average yearly production of refereed papers in scientific journals is impressive for an eclectic University: above 2/FTE/year; citations are enormously increasing every year; 250 R&D contracts are signed yearly with companies. ALLIANCE FOR LOGISTICS INNOVATION THROUGH COLLABORATION IN EUROPE ALICE is a non-profit industry-led association based in Brussels with 160+ members reaching all relevant stakeholder groups within freight transport, logistics and supply chain. ALICE is the alliance of European leading companies and experts in implementing logistics and supply chain innovation and develops a comprehensive strategy for research, innovation and market deployment of logistics and supply chain management innovation in Europe. The vision of ALICE is to support an affordable logistics transition towards zero emissions. Logistics, from global to urban, will evolve to an open system of systems, enabling assets and resources in logistics networks to be interconnected, facilitating their use to the maximum capacity and productivity while increasing agility and resilience of supply chains. We call this the Physical Internet (PI). ALICE develops new concepts, manages knowledge generated in EU projects and initiatives, creating a framework of collaboration within its membership. ALICE influences European strategies and policies of governments, companies and academia to support this vision and paths. Łukasiewicz – Poznan Institute of Technology (Łukasiewicz – PIT) was established in January 2022 as a result of the merging of five Łukasiewicz institutes in Poznań. Four institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, were incorporated into the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Logistics and Warehousing (Łukasiewicz – ILiM).
Through the merger of the institutes, the development and research capabilities of the unit were increased, and the main objectives remained the implementation of highly innovative projects, the expansion of research areas and the modernization of infrastructure.
Łukasiewicz-PIT in the area of logistics invariably uses and builds the highest competence in the Polish and foreign markets. The base of the logistics activity is the experience of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing (ILiM), which was founded in 1967 as the Central Warehousing Centre and the first centre of competence in logistics in Poland. For more than 50 years, the institute has been involved in scientific research and development work for the development of logistics and warehousing processes in companies. The institute also offers a wide range of logistics consulting services, e.g. for warehouse design, selection of efficient warehouse technologies, design of warehouse processes, optimization of transport operations, etc.

AUTORIDAD PORTUARIA DE VIGO The Port of Vigo is a Spanish seaport located in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula next to the Atlantic Ocean, in the city of Vigo. It is managed by the Port Authority of Vigo, belonging to the public entity Puertos del Estado. The Free Zone of Vigo, one of the only three existing in Spain, houses an outstanding network of auxiliary companies in the automotive industry, led by PSA Peugeot-Citroën. As a fishing port, it is one of the largest in the world, hosting the base of one of the world’s largest deep-frozen fish companies. The port of Vigo has extensive experience in project management and has pioneered in the integral implementation of Europe’s Blue Growth strategy as a collective effort by all the port’s users, under the principle that the Blue Economy must be fostered equally by all stakeholders, promoting competitiveness, efficiency, and sustainability in all its activities, installations and services (bluegrowthvigo).
